Four persons wearing the police uniform looted and seriously injured a director of a company running petrol pumps near Banmajra village on the national highway near Kurali today.
The owner of the company, Harpreet Singh, said he got to know from the police that Rs 11.50 lakh had been looted by the robbers.
According to reports, the director, Ravinder Pal Singh, was going in his car after collecting cash from four petrol stations run by the company in the area. He was going from Ropar to Kurali when he was stopped by four persons coming from the rear side in a Ford car near Banmajra.
Thinking that the persons were police personnel, he stopped his car. One of the robbers struck Ravinder Pal Singh with a sharp weapon and snatched the bag containing the cash and his car keys.
A police party was sent from Kurali to Chandigarh to record the statements of the victim.
