3 The Ghuman family residents turning blind is refusing to die down with the district authorities claiming that two more patients, both women, suffered from post-operative disorders following which they turned partially blind today.
Gurdaspur Civil Surgeon Dr Rajneesh Sood confirmed the development. The women are Manjit Kaur of Ghamshampur village and Gurmeet Kaur of Bolewal village (bordering Ghuman Both had undergone cataract surgeries in the same Ghuman-based Guru Nanak Multi-Specialty Hospital where 11 patients from Gagamahal village, 5 km from Amritsar, had lost their vision
The camp was organised by doctors of Mathura-based   Netra Chakitsalya. The Batala police have rushed a team to Mathura to seize the records and also to make some arrests. The team is accompanied by the NGO’s Punjab coordinator, Manjit Joshi, who earlier in the day was remanded in two-day police custody by a Batala court.
Hoshiarpur MP  Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner  and other senior officers of the district administration rushed to Ghuman to meet the families.
Principal Secretary  Mahajan said a majority of the patients were being treated at various hospitals in Amritsar
