The Gurdaspur police today exhumed the body of a Haryana resident near Tibri cantonment, 5 km from here, six months after it was allegedly buried by his kin.
The police say Shakti Singh, a resident of Narangabad in Bhiwani district, came to Tibri cantonment on May 27 to meet his aunt Usha whose husband Mukesh Kumar is with Raj Rifles. He asked his friend Thuru Ram to stand outside while he completed formalities to enter the Army compound. However, he did not return. The following morning, Thuru Ram returned to his native place and informed Shakti’s father Ram Veer Singh about the matter. The latter questioned Usha and Mukesh about his missing son, but he did not get a satisfactory answer. On June 27, he lodged a complaint with the Puranashala police station. Meanwhile Usha and Mukesh left the cantonment.the police arrested Mukesh yesterday. The latter confessed that he and his wife had buried Shakti’s body in a pit and fled
